Optical Performance — Why Deep Recessed Matters
The optical principle behind anti glare downlight performance is straightforward but often misunderstood. Standard downlights mount the LED close to the ceiling surface. At a typical 2.8m ceiling height with a person standing 2m away, the viewer’s eye level creates an angle of roughly 35° from the ceiling plane. If the LED is visible at that angle, glare is present.
The FUC’s deep recessed design pushes the COB source back into the housing, creating a physical shield. The cut-off angle — the angle below which the light source is no longer directly visible — increases from perhaps 15° (standard downlight) to 35°+ (deep recessed). This means the source is hidden from the viewer’s line of sight in most normal viewing positions.
